Buch Launch „Es könnte ein Jubiläum sein“

Das Buch “Es könnte ein Jubiläum sein” erscheint in einer Edition von drei Exemplaren und unterstreicht damit, zusammen mit der aufwändigen Gestaltung durch SUAN Conceptual Design,
das Verständnis der Publikation als eigenständiges Kunstwerk von Raphael Bottazzini. 
Ein Exemplar des Buches wird über die STAMPA Galerie Basel zum Verkauf stehen. Die zwei weiteren Exemplare übergibt das Artachment Art Space Basel dem Staatsarchiv Basel-Stadt, um es der Öffentlichkeit langfristig zugänglich zu machen sowie Susanne Hartmann von SUAN Conceptual Design. Ein PDF des Buches wird auf der Webseite (www.artachment.com) zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt zur Verfügung stehen. 

Zusammen mit der Publikation erscheint ein hochwertiges Heft zur Ausstellungsreihe
„Peter Pan Project“. Es dokumentiert und erweitert die Projekte, die Roman Signer und THYLACINE - Mischa Düblin und Fabian Unold 2018 im Artachment Art Space Basel entwickelten und die dort als permanente Werke gezeigt werden. Das Heft erscheint in einer Auflage von 500 Exemplaren und kann entweder über die STAMPA Galerie oder direkt über das Artachment Art Space Basel erworben werden.

12 Jahre Artachment Art Space Basel - Eine Geschichte mit 700 Seiten.

Der Basler Ausstellungsraum Artachment Art Space Basel verdichtet seine Geschichte und alle bisherigen Ausstellungen und Künstler*Innen aus über 10 Jahren in einer hochwertigen Jubiläumspublikation. Der Rückblick auf die vielen Projekte mit Künstler*Innen, Kurator*Innen und anderen Kunstinstitutionen ist zugleich auch eine Danksagung an alle involvierten Parteien. Als haptisches Archiv ist das Buch eine nachhaltige Präsentation des Artachments mit Wirkung auf die Gegenwart und Zukunft.

Das Buch zeigt 12 Jahre Kunstgeschehen im Artachment Art Space Basel mit KünstlerInnen, KuratorInnen und deren Ausstellungen. Darüber hinaus ist es auch eine geschichtliche Verortung des Basler Hafengebietes und des Stadtteils Kleinhüningen. 1944 wurde das Zollhaus erbaut und überdauerte die Veränderungen des Hafens. Wie ein kleiner Zeitzeuge stand es 76 Jahre schweigend da und lernte viele Menschen und deren Leben kennen. Ich selbst verbrachte viele Stunden vor Ort, um Ausstellungen vorzubereiten und unter anderem dem Häuschen immer mal wieder einen neuen Anstrich zu verpassen. Hierbei führte ich viele interessante Gespräche mit Personen, welche das Zollhaus zum Teil noch aus ihren Jugendzeiten kannten. Mit diesen Eindrücken wuchs die Idee, das geplante Kunstbuch zu erweitern und in eine neue Richtung zu entwickeln.
Mit viel Vorbereitung und in Sitzungen mit Susanne Hartmann (Grafikbüro, Team SUAN) entstand ein Buch, welches auch das Häuschen selbst beschreibt und dessen Geschichte aufzeigt. Dazu waren Interviews mit Menschen nötig, die ihre Eindrücke erzählten. Das Staatsarchiv Basel konnte uns mit historischem Bildmaterial versorgen. Kurzinterviews mit KünstlerInnen wurden erstellt. Eine eigene Bildreihe wurde von Oliver Wüest verfasst, in welcher er ähnlich anmutete Objekte am Basler Rheinufer fand und ablichtete. Viktor Korol, ein Basler Künstler, wurde portraitiert und steuerte dem Buch eine neue Bildserie bei.
In allem erzählt das Buch nun eine weiter gefasste, bewegende und schöne Geschichte, die der Ort und das Häuschen verdient haben.

This booklet is part of a larger project that examined the history of Artachment Art Space Basel and its location in a former customs house in Basel's Kleinhüningen district. The project resulted in the comprehensive publication "It Could Be an Anniversary. History of Artachment Art Space Basel," which includes this booklet. While the publication is designed as an independent artwork by Raphael Bottazzini as an edition of three, the booklet is also published independently of the publication with an edition of 500 copies.  

 The booklet accompanies the exhibition series "Peter Pan Project", which stimulates the exchange of an established art position and art students. The first issue of the booklet documents and expands on the projects that Roman Signer and THYLACINE - Mischa Düblin and Fabian Unold developed in 2018 at Artachment Art Space Basel under the joint exhibition title "It Could Be a Jubilee“. Signer painted the ceiling of the Artachment Art Space Basel building in a performative act with a drone. In dialogue with this, THYLACINE created the light installation "Schein" which connects the public sidewalk with the Artachment Art Space Basel building. Both projects are shown as permanent works at the Artachment Art Space Basel.  

The booklet can be purchased either at Stampa Gallery Basel or directly at Artachment Art Space Basel. The publication "It Could Be an Anniversary. History of Artachment Art Space Basel" is available for sale as a single copy at Stampa Gallery Basel. The Artachment Art Space Basel handed the two other copies to the State Archives Basel-Stadt and Susanne Hartmann of SUAN Conceptual Design. The PDF of the book will soon be freely available on the website (www.artachment.com).

Title: Es könnte ein Jubiläum sein (It could be an anniversary)

The Basel exhibition space brings together all its exhibitions and artists to date in a jubilee publication. A collection remembering the many projects with artists, curators and other art institutions also serves as a thank you to everybody involved. As a tangible archive, the book will be a sustainable presentation of Artachment impacting its present and future.

The book shows 12 years of art happenings in the Artachment Art Space Basel with artists, curators and their exhibitions. In addition, it is also a historical localization of the Basel port area and the Kleinhüningen district. In 1944 the customs house was built and survived the changes of the harbor. Like a small contemporary witness, it stood there silently for 76 years and got to know many people and their lives. I myself spent many hours on site to prepare exhibitions and, among other things, to give the little house a new coat of paint every now and then. I had many interesting conversations with people who knew the customs house from their youth. With these impressions the idea grew to expand the planned art book and to develop it in a new direction. With a lot of preparation and in meetings with Susanne Hartmann (graphic design office, Team SUAN) a book was created, which also describes the house itself and shows its history. This required interviews with people who shared their impressions. The Basel State Archives were able to provide us with historical picture material. Short interviews with artists were made. A series of pictures was created by Oliver Wüest, in which he found and photographed similar-looking objects on the banks of the Rhine in Basel. Viktor Korol, a Basel artist, was portrayed and contributed a new series of images to the book. In all, the book now tells a broader, moving and beautiful story that the place and the house deserve.
